Westport Marine was specifically formed to design and build practical, attractive boats that provide family and friends with plenty of fun without costing the earth.
Our first boat, the Westport Marine Pilot4, was launched at the Southampton Boat Show in September 2006. Being the first in our Pilot Series, she embodies the design philosophies of simple lines, practical layout, strength and performance. With her purposeful looks she is certainly a classic in the making.
Our second boat, the Pilot6 launched at the Southampton Boat Show in September 2007, has a layout principally the same as the successful Pilot4, but with a length of over 17’ her lines are easier whilst still retaining the distinctive character.
Since launching the Pilot4 in September 2006 demand has been so great that production has been re-organised. We now have a facility that can respond to demand and allow us to develop production systems and practices that ensure each boat is built to exacting standards. We are now able to use advanced CNC machining in developing our mould tools, where a robotic router machine is programmed direct from the computer model and used to cut full size patterns. With this system alone we can achieve far greater mould quality and cut development times in half.

The design work is carried out by Charles Broughton using the latest design tools and manufacturing techniques. Since graduating Charles has worked as a naval architect predominantly in the field of design but also project managing the build of various vessels in steel, aluminum and FRP ranging from RIBs, oil-recovery vessels, salvage & surveying catamarans, high speed patrol vessels, crew boats, super-yachts and FRP production leisure craft. In recent years he has specialised in the design of amphibious craft and remains one of the most experienced amphibious designer engineers in Europe.
