Westport Marine

Westport Marine is based in the South West of England and was specifically formed to design and build practical, attractive boats that provide family and friends with plenty of fun without costing the earth.

We launched our first boat, the Pilot4 in 2006 and being the first in our Pilot Series, she embodies the design philosophies of simple lines, practical layout, strength and performance. With her purposeful looks she is certainly becoming a classic.

Since then we have not looked back, in 2007 we launched the Pilot6, having a layout principally the same as the successful Pilot4, but with a length of over 17’ her lines are easier whilst still retaining the distinctive character.

At the beginning of the 2009 season we launched 3 new boats. The Pilot2 & Pilot3 being 12' & 15' open dinghies suitable for shelterred waters and both capable of over 15knots with modest 10hp outboards! We have also spent the winter developing the Westport Sport4, an open console general purpose sports boat and although aimed more at the family sports market she is still an excellent boat to fish from!

During the 2011 season we put together the Pre-production Open Pilot6. The arrangement includes a centre console and stainless steel wrap around side & forward rails, giving style and practicality. The boat has proved a hit with the magazine tests and will be ideal for Bass Anglers with access all around the boat, as well as being perfect for the sportier family user. Production will start during the winter with boats availble from Easter 2012.

Since launching the Pilot4 in September 2006 demand has been so great that production has been re-organised. We now have a facility that can respond to demand and allow us to develop production systems and practices that ensure each boat is built to exacting standards. We are now able to use advanced CNC machining in developing our mould tools, where a robotic router machine is programmed direct from the computer model and used to cut full size patterns. With this system alone we can achieve far greater mould quality and cut development times in half.
