Pilot6 Fisherman

The Pilot6 Fisherman is a simpler, rugged version of our Pilot6 Classic making her suitable for a multitude of roles. Her increased stability and flat open deck space allow you the customer to specify a layout that suits your requirements. Options include a side console which keeps the deck clear and open, a centre console that allows clear access all around for angling or rope handling and of course a cuddy for those that prefer a little protection from the elements.

The Pilot6 Fisherman is based on our renowned Pilot6 Classic, using the hull, girder and deck edge mouldings, but incorporating a hard wearing marine plywood deck, fully encapsulated with GRP. We have also lowered the deck by over 4" to increase the internal freeboard and stability characteristics.

The hull and deck edge mouldings are finished in a hard wearing white gel-coat with the internal sides finished with a resin topcoat. Working deck areas include a non-slip finish to the resin topcoat.

The hull structure has been designed for speeds over 30 knots and includes double laminates along the keel, chine and transom edges. The hull and deck are reinforced with a moulded grid girder system that includes two full length top hat girders and three full transverse floors. The girder system is laminated into the hull with the deck bonded on top, providing great strength and rigidity to the hull and deck structure.

Up forward there is a deck buoyancy compartment providing raised seating and standing access to the foredeck, which includes a hatch to the anchor locker. The fore deck includes one larger anchor cleat plus port & starboard mooring cleats as well as a cast alloy anchor roller.

Moving aft there is a raised lip to prevent water running into the boat as well as providing a landing for mounting the Cuddy. To facilitate the fitting of additional cleats, bollards, rod holders, hand rails, etc., plywood is laminated into the gunnel top from the aft end of the Cuddy lip, running right through to the outboard well.

Aft compartments have been added under the moulded quarter seats providing additional deck buoyancy, with space between and under the outboard well for two 25ltr portable fuel tanks. A bilge sump and transom drain can also be added in this location. Mooring cleats are fitted to port and starboard

Layout options include a centre or side console with steering as well as a Cuddy, or if you prefer we can supply the decked boat ready for your own fitout.

Small Vessel Commercial Use:

The Pilot6 Fisherman is designed, built and self certified to the requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive and satisfies all relevant ISO standards as required by the Maritime and Coastguard Agencies Code of Practice for Small Vessels in Commercial Use, see marine guidance notes MGN 280(M). Any requirement for survey, inspection and approval is the customers responsibility.

Based on calculations with all deck equipment located in deck lockers and fixed equipment located as low as practical, boats fitted with the centre console should exceed minimum stability requirements with one skipper and three crew, with side console boats reduced to one skipper and two crew - subject to final build mass and fitout. Mounting heavy items up high will reduce stability and allowable crew numbers.
